Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 48
• Patient Ratios: Aim for 1:6, currently 1:7
• Unit Staffing Description: 9 nurses, 5 patient care technicians, and 1 unit secretary
• Type of Equipment: EKG, bladder scanner, ultra-light for IV insertion
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: 3 shifts of 12 hours weekly, every other weekend, overtime available
• Floating Policy: As needed
• Patient Experience Requirements: Med/Surg experience

Qualifications

• Required Skill Set: Experience in Med/Surg
• Must Have: Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
• Advanced Skills Needed: None specified
• Procedures Performed on Unit: Wound care, I/O catheters, trach care
• Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Dress Code

Required uniform: Navy blue or white scrubs

• Follow established unit policies and procedures.
• Frequent huddling for effective communication and teamwork.
• Use of mobile devices for communication among staff.
