Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) works collaboratively with other healthcare team members to provide high-quality patient care. This role involves planning and implementing patient and family education while assessing patient needs and initiating appropriate interventions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Montana Licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider certification
  • STABLE certification
  • Minimum of one year of experience in NICU, Labor & Delivery, Emergency Department, or Intensive Care nursing

Essential Job Functions

  • Collects comprehensive data relevant to the patient's health and situation (Assessment).
  • Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues (Diagnosis).
  • Identifies expected outcomes for an individualized plan of care based on patient needs.
  • Develops and implements a plan of care, prescribing strategies and alternatives to reach expected outcomes.
  • Promotes health and ensures a safe environment for patients.
  • Enhances quality and effectiveness of nursing practices systematically.
  • Attains knowledge and competency reflecting current nursing practices.
  • Evaluates personal nursing practice against professional standards and regulations.
  • Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of colleagues.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare teams throughout nursing practice.
  • Integrates ethical considerations in all areas of nursing practice.
  • Utilizes research findings to inform clinical practice.
  • Provides leadership within the professional practice setting.

Stroke Competency

  • Complies with hospital policies and protocols regarding care for patients with acute strokes.
  • Participates in two hours of initial cerebrovascular disease education within the first year of employment.
  • Completes one hour annually of continuing education related to cerebrovascular disease.

Shift Information

  • Variable Shift - May include weekends and holidays.
  • Holiday coverage is required.
