Unit Information

• Unit Type: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Number of Beds: 16
• Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:2 with occasional 1:1 for specific cases
• Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:
  • Young adults to geriatrics
  • Sepsis
  • STEMI
  • COVID
  • Stroke
  • Neurosurgery
  • Renal failure
  • Respiratory failure
  • COPD
  • Cancer
  • Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care, including monitoring and maintaining critical life functions.
• Titrate medications such as sedation, paralytics, pressors, antihypertensives, heparin, and insulin.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide education and support.
• Utilize advanced nursing technologies and protocols, including Gaymar Hypothermia, Arrow Balloon Pump, and Camino Neuro monitoring.

Requirements

• Current RN license and a minimum of 1 year of experience in an ICU setting.
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Ability to pass a knowledge examination during the orientation process.

Schedule and Work Environment

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: As needed
• Floating Requirements: Primarily to PCU but can include other areas of the hospital as needed.

We operate with an eICU remote monitoring system and prioritize bedside shift report as well as intentional hourly rounding. Ideal candidates will embrace a culturally diverse community and provide excellent patient care to individuals from various backgrounds.
