Evening Shift

Unit Information

• Unit: Radiology
• Workload: Patients are scheduled at a rate of 1 per hour to accommodate both inpatient and emergency room cases.
• Electronic Medical Record System: Cerner
• Radiology Management Team: Includes a Radiology Coordinator, Manager, and Supervisor.
• Staffing: Typically, 15 Radiology Technologists are scheduled each 24 hours.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• 2 years of experience in the field.
• Required Certifications:
  • BLS Certification
  • Certified CT Technologist - ARRT (CT)
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - ARRT (R)
  • Fluoroscopy Certification
• State Certification as a Radiologic Technologist for California is required.

Orientation and Training

• Ultrasound Technologists: Orientation lasts 1 week.
• Radiologic Technologists (without CT experience): 1 day for portable training and 1 day in the operating room.
• Radiologic Technologists (with CT experience): Orientation duration will depend on prior experience with specific scanners.
• Mammography Technologists: Training is based on experience, particularly in tomography.

Work Conditions

• Shift Length: 8 hours
• Weekend Requirement:
  • If proficient in CT, candidates may be scheduled for either morning or afternoon shifts.
  • General Radiologic Technologists may be scheduled for an 11 AM shift.
  • Ultrasound Technologists are expected to work a half shift on Saturday mornings unless approved for standby/call by a radiologist.
• Holiday Coverage: Staff will be on call for holiday coverage.
• Scrub Color: Provided by the facility.

Equipment Used

The CT department uses Siemens 64-slice and 128-slice equipment, while Ultrasound employs Phillips technology.

Patient Demographics

Common diagnoses and types of patients include a variety of hospital cases from emergency rooms, operating rooms, inpatients, and outpatients.

Additional Notes

• Possession of a Fluoroscopy permit is highly preferred.
• Experience in the operating room is desirable.
• Certification in Mammography and the capacity to perform tomography is a plus.
• Venipuncture experience is also beneficial.
