Unit: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)

Shift: Nights, with weekend and holiday requirements

Shift Length: 12 hours

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
• Manage patient care according to established protocols and best practices.
• Administer medications and titrate intravenous (IV) drips as necessary.
• Monitor patient vital signs and respond promptly to changes in condition.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to plan and implement patient care.
• Participate in patient and family education regarding care plans and recovery processes.
• Float to telemetry when required, maintaining appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience, including neuro or cardiovascular experience.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Must complete the UNA Dysrhythmia Exam prior to acceptance of the position, with a maximum of two attempts.
• Successful completion of a pass/fail Sim Lab on the first day of orientation.

Work Environment:

• 32-bed Surgical ICU focused on trauma neuro surgery.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1, with charge nurse responsibilities not including patient care.
• Full-time respiratory therapy support in the ICU.

Additional Information:

• Self-scheduling is allowed; managers may balance shifts according to unit needs.
• Weekend requirements include three shifts per four-week schedule.
• One holiday off during assignment.
• Orientation is 1-2 days, specific to the unit.
• Skills validation for trauma, neuro, and specialty devices will be provided as needed.
