Description
Position Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. This position involves working in a busy, large Level 1 Trauma environment, requiring flexibility in scheduling and a willingness to float to other units as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients.
- Manage patient assignments, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2, and occasionally 1:1.
- Administer medications and titrate intravenous drips as per established protocols.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including intensivists and hospitalists.
- Perform assessments and monitor hemodynamic parameters, including PAC, CVP, and arterial lines.
- Utilize electronic medical records (EPIC) for documentation and patient care management.
- Participate in patient care activities including suctioning and troubleshooting ventilators.
- Assist with patient hygiene and basic care tasks.
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent nursing experience in an intensive care setting.
- Experience with critical care patients, including those with conditions such as heart failure, STEMI, pulmonary emboli, and arrhythmias.
- Ability to manage ventilators, administer and titrate medications including Epinephrine, Norepinephrine, and Dobutamine.
- Current certifications in ACLS and BLS are required.
- Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.
- Willingness to work every other weekend and be flexible with scheduling needs.
Work Environment
The unit operates with a focus on patient-centered care, and while there is a charge nurse on each shift, they may take patient assignments as needed. Support staff such as patient care assistants are available, but their ratio is limited. Respiratory therapy support is available 24/7 in the ICU.
Orientation and Training
New hires will undergo two shifts of unit-specific orientation. Ongoing training and skills assessments will be provided to ensure the highest standard of care.
