Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in our labor and delivery unit. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout the childbirth process, ensuring both maternal and fetal well-being.

Unit Information

• Number of Labor and Delivery Beds: 14
• Number of Triage Beds: 6
• Number of OR Suites: 2
• Postpartum Beds: 28
• Average Births: 250 per month

Certifications Required

• ACLS
• BLS
• Fetal Heart Monitoring – Advanced (AWOHNN) for Labor and Delivery
• NRP for Postpartum

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

• Laboring Patients: 2:1 (following AWOHNN guidelines)
• Couplet Care: 1:4

Additional Information

• Fetal Heart Monitoring System: Fetal Link
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner
• Charge Nurse: Yes (attempts to avoid patient assignment)
• OB Technician: Available on day and night shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Staff will work in rotation
• Nurse Scrub Colors: Navy for Postpartum; Seal Blue for Labor and Delivery (supplied)
• Telemetry: Phillips
• Ventilators: None available
• OB/Neonatologist: Available on-call as needed
• Respiratory Therapy: Available 24/7
• Pharmacy: Available 24/7
• Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a)
• C-Section Experience: Required to circulate; scrubbing experience preferred
• Floating: Required to float to postpartum; postpartum staff will not float to L&D
• Orientation: 3 shifts of floor-specific orientation

• Any gestational age
• Antepartum care
• High-risk deliveries
• Substance abuse
• Pre-eclampsia
• Insulin-dependent diabetes
