Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist with a strong background in Pediatric Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) procedures. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of first scrub experience in pediatric CVOR settings.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of Pediatric CVOR experience required.
• First Scrub role experience, including responsibilities such as handing supplies to the surgeon and counting instruments.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are required.
• Current Washington State License.
• Experience in scrubbing with a variety of patient types, including neonates and adults.
• Approval from management may be required for any missing specific experience.

Patient Demographics

The Surgical Technologist will work with a diverse patient population, including:

• Neonates to 18 years old, as well as adult-sized patients.
• Patients with developmental delays or congenital anomalies.

Common Procedures

Typical cases include:

• Tetralogy of Fallot
• Pericardial window
• Transposition of great vessels
• Open heart valve repairs
• ECMO
• PDA ligation through thoracotomy
• ASD repairs

Work Environment

The Surgical Technologist position is located in a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The role includes floating to assist in the General Operating Room when not engaged in CVOR duties.

Schedule and On-call Requirements

• Weekend rotation includes call only, with one call shift per week and two weekends in a six-week period.
• 30-minute response time is expected for on-call duties.
