Position Summary

We are seeking a Pediatric Transport Registered Nurse (RN) with extensive experience in pediatric emergency departments, pediatric intensive care units, and neonatal intensive care units. The ideal candidate will have strong transport experience and a dedicated approach to providing care to critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients.

Essential Responsibilities

• Support interhospital transport via ground or air.
• Perform airway management and administer vasoactive drips/infusions.
• Utilize non-invasive ventilation methods (Bipap/HFNC) and manage respiratory inhaled medication administration.
• Establish IV/IO access as required.
• Collaborate with a team consisting of a respiratory therapist and an EMT for efficient patient transport.
• Assist in units where there is a need when not transporting.
• Engage in safety day training as part of orientation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in pediatric emergency, pediatric intensive care, and Level IV neonatal intensive care (at least 1 year in each area).
• At least 3 years of neonatal/pediatric transport experience within the last 5 years.
• Current Washington state nursing license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and STABLE certifications are preferred.

Patient Types & Common Diagnoses

This role involves working with pediatric and neonatal patients, commonly diagnosed with:

• Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE)
• Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn (ppHN)
• Asthma
• Respiratory illnesses
• Sepsis
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Other metabolic disorders
• Trauma (accidental and non-accidental)
• Ingestions
• Congenital heart defects
• Cancer
• Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC)

Technology & Equipment

Familiarity and experience with the following technology and equipment is important:

• Philips monitors
• Hamilton ventilators
• Braun and Baxter IV pumps
• Tecotherm
• Zoll defibrillators
• Transport isolette
• Ambulance and aircraft equipment

Working Conditions

• Weekend rotation: Every other weekend.
• Shift options: 7 PM - 7 AM or 7 AM - 7 PM.
• Uniform color: Black scrubs.

Facility Overview

This facility features a total of 152 beds, with Level II trauma and Level IV NICU capabilities, serving the Puget Sound region and beyond, including areas of eastern Washington. It provides specialized services such as Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO).
