Located in Spokane Valley, WA, this 123 Bed Hospital serves as a Level 3 Trauma Center and operates as a smaller community hospital.

General Information

• Beds: 123
• Experience Requirements: A minimum of 2 years of experience is required. First-time travelers are welcome if they have 2 years of experience and are comfortable with required skills.

Patient Types

The facility caters to a diverse patient population, including:

• Medical-Surgical (MS)
• Critical Care
• Emergency
• COVID Patients

Primarily serving adults and geriatric patients, with potential care for pediatrics or infants, particularly those requiring Bubble CPAP (transferred to NICU if needed).

Patient Ratios

Patient-to-staff ratios vary based on census and acuity, utilizing a points system acuity tool for assignment determination.

Licensure & Certifications

Required certifications include:

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Required Skills

Candidates should possess proficiency in the following:

• Basic respiratory therapy skills
• Critical care experience
• Experience with ventilators, BiPAPs, and High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Familiarity with other respiratory equipment and accessories
• Some experience in a nursery setting is beneficial, although not mandatory if NRP certified.

Unit Support

Support is provided by the Respiratory Therapy Manager and Team Lead.

Technology & Equipment

• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
• Ventilators: Getinge Servo-u
• Medication Dispensing: Pyxis

Floating

Respiratory Therapists are assigned to specific areas during their shifts but may be required to cover other departments within the facility. There is no floating to other facilities.

Orientation

Orientation consists of:

• 1 day of hospital orientation
• 2 to 3 precepted shifts based on comfort level, with further orientation time determined by the manager if needed.

Scheduling

• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend required
• Holiday Expectations: Dependent on unit needs
• Requested Time Off (RTO): Requires manager approval
• Shift Times: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM and overnight shifts until 6:30 AM
• Schedule Cycle: Released 6 weeks in advance
