Facility Overview

This healthcare facility is a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center that also includes a Level III NICU and serves as a Primary Stroke Center. The facility accommodates first-time travelers with a minimum of 18 months of experience in MedSurg, along with EPIC or Cerner experience. Staff must be away for six months before returning as a traveler, from the last shift worked to the start date.

• 6 North Trauma Surgical
  • Beds: 23
  • Patient Types: General Surgery and Vascular surgeries
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
  • Required Skills: Trauma/surgical experience, wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration, and documentation.
• 5 South Neuroscience
  • Beds: 33
  • Patient Types: CVA, TBI, Seizure, AMS, Spinal Fusion, Craniotomy, Degenerative Diseases, post trauma, angiogram
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
  • Required Skills: IV start, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, Colostomy/Ostomy care, wound care, chest tube care, surgical site care, C-Collar management, abdominal binders, and restraints.
• 5 North MedSurg/Oncology
  • Beds: 39
  • Patient Types: All patient types except stroke and MI, including palliative care and ETOH withdrawal.
  • Patient Ratios: 1:6 for RN and LPNs
  • Required Skills: Trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts, and chemotherapy administration (if certified).
• 4 South Clinical Decision Unit
  • Beds: 18
  • Patient Types: General MEdSurg including COPD, CHF, Diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, Pneumonia, Renal Failure, Sepsis, UTI, and End of Life Comfort.
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
  • Required Skills: Assessment, prioritization, communication, documentation, tracheotomy care, suctioning, O2 therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, external catheter care, PEG/NGT care, wound care, chest tube care, central line care, pressure ulcer management, and falls prevention management.
• 3 South Orthopedics
  • Beds: 20
  • Patient Types: Orthopedic and spine patients including joint replacements, fractures, and fusions.
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5; 1:6 if MedSurg
  • Required Skills: PCA pumps, wound care (negative pressure dressing), dressing changes, foleys, and drains (hemovacs/JP drains).
• 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology
  • Beds: 23
  • Patient Types: Urology, ENT, ortho, and MedSurg.
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
  • Required Skills: Trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, and following nurse-driven Foley protocol.
