Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team. This position is suitable for first-time travelers with a minimum of 18 months of experience in MedSurg and/or ICU. Experience with EPIC or Cerner is required.

Orientation and Training

On your first day of orientation, you will be assigned to your home unit. Orientation consists of:

• 24 hours of classroom training
• 24 hours of hands-on training on the unit

Rehires will have orientation tailored based on their last date of employment with us.

Patient Care Responsibilities

Patient ratios are typically 1:4, with an expectation of high-quality care. Responsibilities include:

• Turning patients and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Wound care, medication administration, and documentation
• Monitoring telemetry as needed

Unit Information

• 6 North Trauma Surgical: General Surgery and Vascular surgeries. Requires at least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.
• 5 South Neuroscience: Treats CVA, TBI, Seizures, and more. Skills required include IV starts, trach care, and wound care.
• 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: High acuity MS/Oncology patients with a focus on palliative care. Chemo experience is preferred.
• 3 South Orthopedics: Focuses on orthopedic and spine procedures.
• 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology: Involves various MedSurg types with specific skills needed.

Qualifications

All candidates must have:

• BLS Certification
• NIHSS Certification
• A minimum of 18 months of MedSurg and/or ICU experience

Support Services

Our units feature a comprehensive support system, including:

• CNA support with a ratio of 1:10-12
• Charge nurses who rarely take assignments
• Phlebotomy and IV/VAT Teams
• Telemetry monitoring with technicians

Scheduling and Holiday Expectations

Scheduling includes:

• Weekend rotation: Every other or 4 weekend days per month
• Holiday expectations include one major and one minor seasonal holiday
• Approval for up to 7 days off (excluding blackout dates)

Shift Details

Typical shift times are:

• 7 AM - 7 PM
• 7 PM - 7 AM

Scheduling will follow a 4-week cycle with no self-scheduling involved.
