Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, handling various patient types and medical conditions. The role requires proficiency in clinical skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare setting.
Minimum Experience
- 1 year of nursing experience
- Consideration for first-time travelers with at least 2 years of total experience, including 1 year in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Required Certifications
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Required Skills
- Tracheostomy care
- Chest tube management
- TR band application
- Post-Cath Lab care
- Central line maintenance
- General nursing duties
- Reading, interpreting, and measuring cardiac rhythms
- Caring for patients requiring BiPAP and high-flow oxygen
- Comfort with cardiac patients
- Experience with titratable drips (diltiazem, amiodarone, heparin, digoxin, Bumex, Lasix)
Patient Types
- General medical patients (DMII, GI, GU, COVID, Pneumonia, Altered Mental Status, Transient Ischemic Attack, Acute Kidney Injury, dehydration, ETOH withdrawal, syncope, Chronic Kidney Disease, sepsis, stroke, dialysis, pulmonary edema, anemia, shock, hypoxia)
- Cardiac patients (Post Percutaneous Coronary Intervention care, Congestive Heart Failure, Myocardial Infarction, Atrial Fibrillation with Rapid Ventricular Response, Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction, chest pain)
- Oncology patients (such as leukemia, neutropenia, etc.; chemotherapy administration may be required based on requisition)
Work Environment
The successful candidate will work at a non-profit community hospital with 226 total beds and 34 beds in the 2 East Wing. The unit has a high volume of post-cath lab procedures, requiring familiarity with TR bands, stent placements, and fresh catheter patients needing frequent assessments.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care to a diverse patient population, including a significant Spanish-speaking demographic and underserved individuals.
- Floating within scope based on unit needs across the hospital.
Additional Information
- Weekend rotation required: at least 2 shifts per month, subject to change based on operational needs.
- Scrub color: Any color allowed.
