Unit Information

This position is located in an Oncology ICU with a total of 10 beds dedicated to critically ill patients.

General Information

• Staffing: Day shift includes 1 charge nurse and registered nurses based on census. Night shift consists of 1 charge nurse and registered nurses according to census. No technicians are present on either shift.
• Patient Ratios: 2:1
• Equipment: Ventilators, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), arterial lines, BiPAP machines, Flow-trac, IV pumps.
• Electronic Medical Records System: Meditech

Typical Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for critically ill patients.
• Perform total care responsibilities which include turning patients, titrating medications, conducting dressing changes, and tracheostomy care.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Strong ICU experience with the ability to titrate intravenous drips and care for patients on ventilators.
• Experience with patients requiring BiPAP.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT).
• Background in transplant nursing (kidney, pancreas, liver).

Required Certifications

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Additional Details

• Floating areas include all ICUs, Progressive Care Units (PCU), and Bone Marrow Transplant units.
• Dress code comprises blue scrubs.
• Standard reporting times are at 6:45 AM or 6:45 PM, with clocking in/out for lunch.
• Weekend shifts are part of a rotating schedule.
