Description
Schedule Requirements
Available Friday to Sunday from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM EST, on-call and holidays based on unit needs. Must be able to report to on-call shifts within 30 minutes.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient identity and review physician orders prior to conducting x-ray procedures.
- Utilize x-ray equipment to capture radiographic images of patients’ bones, tissues, and organs as per physician directives.
- Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns they may have.
- Position patients appropriately, including assisting those with limited mobility.
- Safely handle all radiologic equipment, ensuring patient exposure to radiation is minimized.
- Observe and assess each patient’s condition and respond to their age-specific needs.
- Produce diagnostic and high-quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.
- Promptly notify management of any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
- Utilize electronic patient information systems to confirm patient details and ensure accuracy of exams, following dual patient identifier procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient records by properly identifying images and ensuring they are uploaded correctly to the PACS system.
Requirements
- Completion of formal training in an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
- Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- New York State license or ability to obtain a license prior to starting.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as an X-Ray Technologist.
- Experience in a Level 1 trauma center is preferred.
- Ability to safely lift or move patients and to stand for extended periods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Compassionate and patient-centered disposition.
- Team player with the ability to foster a cohesive working environment.
- Current BLS certification.
- Experience using C-arm/O-arm within the past 8 months is required.
- Recent experience in an operating room setting is essential.
