Physical Therapist

Job Description:

This role requires an active license to practice as a Physical Therapist in Alaska. The individual will provide outpatient Physical Therapy evaluations and treatments focused on enhancing patients’ functional abilities. Adherence to hospital standards and compliance with licensure and practice standards is essential.

Position Complexities:

Physical therapists in this role are responsible for patient assessment, evaluation, and the establishment of individualized care plans. They will work with patients of varying ages, diagnoses, and skill levels, requiring collaboration with clinical teams and other care providers to optimize rehabilitation outcomes. This position entails documentation of patient interactions and may require travel to off-site and remote locations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assessment and Treatment (70%):
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify therapy diagnoses.
  • Formulate and implement treatment plans based on patient assessment.
  • Document patient findings and treatment plans accurately per hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams and educate patients and families on self-care and rehabilitation techniques.
• Administrative Support (20%):
  • Assist in clinic operations and maintain documentation for patient information.
  • Manage supply stocks and ensure the clinical space remains clean and organized.
• Education and Training (5%):
  • Educate staff on physical therapy practices and assist in professional development.
  • Participate in in-service training for both staff and patients.
• Additional Duties (5%):
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Baseline Qualification Requirements:

• Entry-level qualifying degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program or equivalent experience.
• Current license as a Physical Therapist in Alaska.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Valid Driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Understanding of musculoskeletal physiology and treatment methodologies for various diagnoses.
• Proficient in documentation and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Familiarity with billing procedures relevant to the field of physical therapy.
• Ability to utilize and fit adaptive devices to meet patient needs.
• Skills in managing patient care and contributing to team-based healthcare delivery.

Other Comments:

The role may involve physically demanding tasks and the use of personal protective equipment due to potential exposure to infectious organisms. Services may be provided in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, community events, and home visits. Occasional travel to remote areas may be required.

Shift Information:

Monday through Friday, daytime hours.

Minimum Years of Experience:

Two years of relevant experience is required.

Certifications / Requirements:

Basic Life Support / Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
