Unit Information

• Unit Name: CVOR
• Number of ORs: 6
• Staffing:
  • 1 Unit Secretary
  • 1 Charge Nurse
  • 1 PCA
  • 1 Core Tech
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Patient Ratios: All cases require 1 scrub and 1 circulator; pump cases also require a first assist or heart holder, which can be an RN or CST.

Responsibilities

The primary role includes serving as a circulator in the CVOR setting, managing patient care during surgical procedures. Responsibilities also include assisting with various advanced cardiac procedures such as:

• Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
• Valve Replacements
• Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Insertions
• Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
• Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS)
• Lobectomies
• Pacemaker/AICD Insertions
• Septal Myectomy
• Ross Procedure
• Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH)
• Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) Insertions
• Femoral Cannulation
• Circulatory Arrest

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: RN License, BLS
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant CVOR experience required.
• Preferred Skills: Advanced scrub/first assist experience is preferred but not required.

Work Environment

The position requires adherence to hospital dress code and surgical attire policies. Staff may be floated to other areas as needed, although this occurs infrequently.
