Description
Job Overview
This is a temporary position for a Physical Therapist in a 378-bed hospital located in City, State. The role involves working with service lines that include orthopedic/elective joints, neurology, vascular, and general medical/surgical care. The position is designed for a contract of 13 weeks.
Responsibilities
- Conduct therapy evaluations and provide treatment to patients.
- Screen patients to determine their need for therapy services.
- Make appropriate discharge recommendations for patients.
Patient Care Ratios
The target patient ratios are 8 patients per day in Acute Care and 4 patients per day in the Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU).
Qualifications
- Must have:
- Current Texas therapy license.
- Flexibility with changing schedules.
- Willingness to work weekends.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to training.
- Preferred:
- Experience in Acute Care and ARU.
- Familiarity with Meditech EMR system.
Equipment Used
The role involves working with various types of medical equipment, including Durable Medical Equipment (DMEs) and exercise equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, the ability to adapt to changes, and the resilience to manage dynamic work conditions.
Unit Guidelines and Compliance
- Adherence to HIPAA regulations and hospital safety guidelines.
- Compliance with therapy care policies and protocols according to APTA/AOTA guidelines.
Dress Code
The dress code for this position includes olive green scrub tops and black scrub pants.
Additional Information
This position requires the therapist to float between the Adult Acute Care and Rehabilitation Units as needed. There is no on-call duty associated with this role.
