Description
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled X-Ray Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of x-ray procedures while ensuring patient care and safety throughout the process.
Responsibilities
- Verify patients' identity and review physicians’ orders before beginning procedures.
- Utilize x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs as per physicians’ written orders.
- Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns they may have.
- Position patients appropriately, which may involve lifting and moving those with limited mobility.
- Handle all radiologic equipment safely, ensuring radiation dose is kept as low as possible.
- Observe and interpret each patient’s status to meet their age-specific needs.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
- Notify management promptly of any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
- Utilize electronic patient information systems to verify patient information and adhere to dual patient identifier procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient record-keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring they are sent to the PACS system correctly.
Requirements
- Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology and current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Active New York State license or ability to obtain prior to starting.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as an X-Ray Technologist.
- Experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
- Ability to lift or move patients and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- A patient and compassionate disposition with a team-oriented approach.
Additional Information
- Must be able to report within 30 minutes for on-call shifts as required, with approximately 2-3 call shifts per month.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Experience with C-arm/O-arm in the past 8 months is necessary.
- Prior experience in an operating room setting is required.
