Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 40
- Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 Bedside Nurses, 4 Patient Care Technicians, 1 Unit Secretary
- Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 Bedside Nurses, 3 Patient Care Technicians
- Patient Ratios: 1:4, with stretch staffing at 1:5 ratio
- Patient Population: Patients with heart failure, myocardial infarction, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and post-procedural recovery from cardiac catheterization, stenting, pacemaker/ICD placement, and ablation.
- Equipment: Zoll monitors, Baxter pumps, lifting equipment, bladder scanners
- EHR System: Cerner
Typical Hiring Profile
- Required Skills:
- Stepdown or progressive care experience
- Telemetry experience
- Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications (e.g., nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drips, heparin, bumetanide/Lasix)
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience with prostacyclins (e.g., Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
- Relief charge experience

- Bedside Cardioversion

Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
Floating Areas
Willingness to float to all Medical-Surgical units, Stepdown units, COVID unit, and Emergency Room holding.
Dress Code
Scrub color: all white or all navy blue, or white top with navy blue pants.
Unit Guidelines/Policies
Details will be discussed during orientation.
Weekend Commitment
Every other weekend is required.
Experience Requirement
A minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience is required.
