Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our Float Pool team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, floating among various ICU areas and potentially to MedSurg/Tele units as needed.
Position Details
- Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Experience Requirement: 2 years of ICU experience is required
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks, covering Saturdays and Sundays
- Holiday Requirement: Availability based on unit needs
Certifications
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
- BLS - Basic Life Support Certification
- NIHSS - National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (preferred but not required)
Qualifications
- Must possess Level 1 trauma experience
- Pass an Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam with a minimum score of 80% prior to contract initiation (two attempts allowed)
- Completion of pass/fail SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is mandatory
- Demonstrated competency in maintaining sterile fields, as failure in this area may affect employment
- Familiarity with critical drips and all types of respiratory support equipment
- Ability to function independently while floating and provide care across various ICU specialties
Work Environment
The ICU Float Cluster includes Tower 2, Tower 4, and 4 Neuro units, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:2 in most areas. The responsibilities include providing care for medical, surgical, trauma, cardiothoracic, and neuro patients.
Additional Information
- Orientation consists of 2 shifts, with an additional shift available if needed
- All reports to be completed at the bedside, and a quality two-person skin assessment must be completed within the first 4 hours of each shift
