Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our High Acuity Float Pool. This role involves providing critical care across various units, including Critical Care, Observation, Medical-Surgical, and specialty surgery areas.
Shift Details
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
Weekend and Holiday Requirements
- 3 weekend shifts per schedule
- Holiday shifts required
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, with high acuity care preferred
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA)
- BLS (AHA)
- NIHSS
- Must have EPIC experience
- Experience in floating roles across units or facilities is essential
Patient Care Responsibilities
Nurses in this unit will be responsible for:
- Titrating drips including Epi, Norepi, Dobutamine, Propofol, Esmolol, Hydromorphone, and Midazolam
- Handling common diagnoses and patient types including medical, surgical, neuro, and cardiac patients
- Assessing patient acuity and managing assignments in accordance with standards
Unit Information
The High Acuity Float Pool encompasses various units, including Critical Care Unit, Observation, Medical-Surgical, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Short Stay Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Telemetry, and Progressive Care.
Nurse Support and Resources
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2; may vary based on acuity
- Presence of nursing assistants and monitor techs to support care
- Self-scheduling available for shifts
Orientation and Training
New hires will undergo a General Hospital Orientation followed by unit-specific training that includes Myles Modules and Cerner Validation classes, along with hands-on orientation within the ICU.
Dress Code
Royal Blue uniforms are required for all staff on this unit.
