Job Description
We are seeking a Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) with PCU experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in telemetry and cardiac care, with the ability to read cardiac strips and manage patients with complex medical needs.
Position Details
- Unit Type: Stepdown Unit
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Years of Experience Required: 2 Years
- Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care to adults and geriatrics with various medical conditions, including cardiac issues, gastrointestinal problems, and respiratory illnesses.
- Monitor patient vital signs and manage telemetry, interpreting cardiac rhythms accurately.
- Titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitroglycerin, and Lasix.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to create and implement patient care plans.
- Assist in the management of patients on BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy.
Patient Care Overview
- Number of Beds: 32
- Nurse/Patient Ratios: 1:4-5, with occasional ratios of 5-6 at night; PCU level care may require ratios of 1:3.
- Common Diagnoses: Cardiac catheterizations, electrophysiology studies, pacemaker management, ETOH withdrawal, COVID-19, acute pneumonia, and sepsis.
- Support Staff: Patient Care Techs are available with a target ratio of 1:10.
Work Schedule
- Shifts: 7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM
- Rotation: Minimal rotating shifts, scheduled weekly.
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend.
- Holiday Requirements: Every other holiday.
Additional Information
- Floating may be required to assist in various departments, including Medical Surgical units and potential ER holds.
- Dress Code: Any color scrubs; scrubs are not provided.
- Orientation includes 2 shifts (12 hours each) with independent practice expected thereafter.
