Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for an exciting opportunity that involves working in a Med/Surg and Telemetry unit. The position requires flexibility as candidates will float between multiple units within the region to meet staffing needs.
Shift Details
- Shift Type: Nights
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Yes, 1-2 winter holidays
Unit Information
The Med/Surg unit consists of various specialized areas, all equipped for telemetry monitoring. Travelers may be required to float to cover different Med/Surg and Telemetry units, which include:
- Surgical unit (36 beds)
- Long-term low acuity unit (17 beds)
- General medical cases unit (38 beds)
- Short stay/cardiac COVID unit (41 beds)
- Neuro unit (33 beds)
- Ortho and spine unit (21 beds)
Patient Care Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for:
- Caring for 4-5 patients per shift
- Administering medication and managing intravenous (IV) therapies
- Monitoring patients' vital signs and telemetry
- Titrating drips including insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and more
- Transferring patients to critical care if necessary
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience
- BLS Certification required
- Ability to float to various units as required
Additional Information
All travelers will undergo a standardized orientation of 4 hours on the specific units they will be assigned to. Breaks are mandatory and should be taken when offered. Nurse aides (CNAs) will support the Registered Nurses, taking care of 8-11 patients each.
