Description
Job Summary
Provides high-quality nursing care in a telemetry and medical-surgical setting. Responsible for assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and participating in the implementation and evaluation of care. Requires the ability to work across various units as needed.
Shift Details
- Days
- 12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend and holiday requirements
- Guaranteed hours: 48 hours per week
- Required to float to different units within the region
Unit Information
The unit consists of a variety of telemetry and medical-surgical specialties. Travelers will be required to float to cover the entire division as needed. The following are some of the unit specialties:
- General medical cases (chronic and acute)
- Surgical unit, including abdominal and trauma surgeries
- Short stay cardiac and COVID unit
- Neuro and ortho/spine units
Patient Ratios
Registered Nurses care for 4-5 patients, and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) assist with 8-11 patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in telemetry and medical-surgical settings.
- Monitor patient conditions and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Titrate intravenous drips within established guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in orientation and training as needed for various units.
Qualifications
- Active BLS certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience.
- Ability to float to different units as needed to meet patient care needs.
Additional Notes
RNs may also occasionally be assigned roles as CNAs or entrance screeners based on staffing needs. Orientation of 4 hours per unit will be provided for several key areas.
Working Environment
Healthcare professionals are expected to take breaks when offered and are not allowed to refuse scheduled breaks. Moreover, nursing staff will be supported by telemetry technicians who monitor patients remotely.
