Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

This seasonal nursing position is located in the 4 North Cardiac Telemetry unit, dedicated to providing high-quality care to cardiac patients. The role includes a guaranteed 48 hours, with an anticipated start date of November 30.

Unit Specifics

  • Number of Beds: 29
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4
  • Staffing Description: Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) available
  • Equipment: Alaris IV Pumps, SCD machines, Hill Rom beds, vital signs monitoring equipment, Wound Vacs, temporary pacemakers, telemetry monitors, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and Dopplers
  • Documentation System: Meditech

Scheduling Requirements

Full-time hours are required, including three weekend shifts per scheduling period. Contract nurses may be floated to any area where they have demonstrated competency.

Patient Care Expectations

Canddiates must align with patient experience goals by treating every patient with courtesy and respect, responding promptly to call lights, and maintaining open communication. Engaging with patients during bedside shift reports and teaching them how to contact nursing staff directly is also essential.

Qualifications

  • Required Experience: Cardiac Telemetry or PCU/ICU experience. Ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips.
  • Advanced Skills: Experience with post-cardiac procedural care such as ablations, cardiac catheterizations, post-operative care for open heart surgery, and permanent pacemaker placements. Ability to administer and titrate IV medications including insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone.
  • Procedures Performed on Unit: IV insertions, NGT placement and maintenance, chest tube maintenance, temporary pacemaker management, and Foley insertions.
  • Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.

Dress Code

Required uniform includes navy blue scrubs. Black scrub pants may be worn with a navy blue top.

The unit has received “Get With the Guidelines - Heart Failure GOLD PLUS with Honor Roll” from the AHA.

Pros

This MRI department is amazing! The nurses there are awesome! My experience there was exceptional! The patient care was outstanding!!

Cons

The pay was the only thing that was lacking. But that is what it was! No regrets about working there! Also the housing situation was not great. But that has nothing to do with the facility!
