Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NSICU). This position requires expertise in managing critically ill patients with neurological conditions. The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality care, ensuring patient safety, and collaborating with the healthcare team to deliver optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details
- Location: Kansas City, MO
- Unit Size: 32 Beds
- Patient Ratios: 2:1
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; every other weekend required
- Floating Policy: May float to similar units as needed
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience preferred
- Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Skills Required:
- Trauma patient management
- IV administration of vasoactive medications
- Ventilator management
- Chest tube management
- Caring for post-operative surgical patients
- Cardiac rhythm identification and management
- Hemodynamic monitoring
- Caring for stroke patients
Advanced Skills and Procedures
- Hemodynamic and ventilator management
- Procedures performed on the unit include:
- Chest tube placement
- Ventriculostomy
- Moderate sedation
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
- Therapeutic hypothermia
- Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
- Arterial line and central line placement
Dress Code
- Top: Navy scrub top (must be scrub material, no t-shirts)
- Bottoms: Navy or black scrub bottoms
- Jackets: Navy, white, or black (solid colors)
- Undershirts: Navy, white, or black (solid colors)

The pay was the only thing that was lacking. But that is what it was! No regrets about working there! Also the housing situation was not great. But that has nothing to do with the facility!
