Description
Position Description
This is a seasonal travel position with guaranteed hours. The assignment begins on November 30th and is located in Kansas City, MO.
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 32
- Patient Ratios: 2:1
- Unit Staffing: Unit Secretary available from 7:30 AM to 12:00 AM
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Scheduling Requirements: 3 12-hour shifts; every other weekend (or 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule period)
- Floating Policy: May float to similar units, including NSICU, Cardiac Telemetry, Progressive Care Unit, Burn Unit, and ED Inpatient Overflow as per hospital needs.
Patient Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience is required; preference for additional ICU-specific experience.
Hospital Specifics
- Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Preferred Certifications: TNCC (not required)

- Trauma patient management
- IV administration of vasoactive medications
- Ventilator management
- Chest tube management
- Care of post-operative surgical patients
- Cardiac rhythm identification and management
- Hemodynamic monitoring
- Care of stroke patients

- Hemodynamic and ventilator management

- Chest tube placement

- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)

Dress Code
- Top: Navy scrub top (no t-shirts; must be a scrub top)
- Bottoms: Navy or black scrub bottoms
- Jackets: Navy, white, or black (solid colors)
- Undershirts: Navy, white, or black (solid colors)

Additional Information
This unit features a mix of seasoned professionals and offers an environment equipped with new technologies and equipment. There are various scheduling options available to accommodate personal preferences. The unit consists of a 16-bed Medical ICU and a 16-bed Surgical ICU, providing diverse patient care opportunities.

This MRI department is amazing! The nurses there are awesome! My experience there was exceptional! The patient care was outstanding!!
Cons
The pay was the only thing that was lacking. But that is what it was! No regrets about working there! Also the housing situation was not great. But that has nothing to do with the facility!
