Overview
We are seeking a skilled Cardiac Telemetry Nurse to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced environment. This position is essential in providing high-quality patient care in our Cardiac Telemetry unit.
Unit Details
- Location: Kansas City, MO
- Unit Name: 4 North Cardiac Telemetry
- Number of Beds: 29
- Patient Ratios: 1:4
- Staffing: Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, and PCTs available
- Equipment:
- Alaris IV Pumps
- SCD machines
- Hill Rom beds
- Dinamap in each room
- Welch Allen Vital Machines
- Wound Vacs
- Temporary Pacemakers
- Telemetry monitors
- EKG Machines
- Bladder Scanners
- Doppler devices
- Imobile communication system
- Documentation System: Meditech
Scheduling Requirements
Full-time availability is required, including three weekend shifts per scheduling period. Floating to areas where competency has been demonstrated may occur.
Patient Care Expectations
The Cardiac Telemetry Nurse must align with patient experience goals by treating patients with dignity and respect. Responsibilities include:
- Using the patient’s preferred name
- Creating personal connections
- Involving patients in bedside shift reports
- Teaching patients about using communication devices
- Inquiring if there is anything else the patient needs before leaving the room
Qualifications
- Required Skills:
- Experience in Cardiac Telemetry or PCU/ICU
- Ability to read and interpret EKGs and telemetry strips
- Post-cardiac procedural care (e.g., Ablations, cardiac catheterizations, Open Heart recovery, and Pacemaker placements)
- Administering and titrating IV medications such as insulin, Cardizem, Cardene, and Amiodarone
- Certifications:
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
Dress Code
Navy blue scrubs are required, with the option to wear black scrub pants paired with a navy blue top.
