Job Overview
An exciting opportunity awaits for dedicated ICU Registered Nurses to join our team. This position involves primarily working in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with occasional floating to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), ensuring high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Position Details
- Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years in relevant specialty
- Shift Notes: Night shifts and every other weekend required
Location
Candidates will primarily work at facilities within the region, specifically in:
- St. Joseph Medical Center - Tacoma, WA
- St. Clare Hospital - Lakewood, WA
- St. Elizabeth Hospital - Enumclaw, WA
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Monitor and assess patient conditions in both PCU and ICU settings.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Float to other units as needed while ensuring continuity of care.
Qualifications
- Certifications Required: ACLS (AHA), BLS Certification
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU/PCU nursing required.
- Strong foundational nursing skills, with an emphasis on critical care.
Unit Information
- Type: Medical ICU with both ICU and PCU beds (82 beds total: 48 ICU, 34 PCU)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- ICU: 1:1 or 1:2
- PCU: 1:3
- Electronic Medical Records: EPIC
- Support Staff: Nurse aides available on each floor
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend is mandatory
- Floating: Eligible to float between all ICU and PCU units
Additional Notes
- No ventilator management in PCU.
- Common medications include cardizem, nitro, insulin, and heparin; no pressors in PCU.
- Orientation will be a maximum of one week with an educator, with a minimum of two shifts.
