Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role involves providing critical care to patients in a fast-paced environment, including the ability to float to Medical/Surgical Telemetry and Emergency Department holds as needed.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
- Unit Composition: Multi-Operational Services Unit (MOSU) with 5 beds
- Patient Ratios: 1:2 for ICU patients, 1:3 for MedSurg patients, potentially flexing to a 1:4 ratio for Telemetry
- Staffing: Two nurses for 4+ patients; resource nurse available
Shift Information
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Holidays: Coverage based on unit needs
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience
- Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS
- Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam must be successfully completed prior to contract offer
- Comfortable in telemetry unit and with floating to other areas
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills are essential
- Proficient with vasoactive drips and maintaining a sterile field
Clinical Responsibilities
The ICU Registered Nurse will be responsible for caring for critically ill patients requiring complex medical interventions. Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring patient vitals and managing vasoactive drips
- Performing necessary clinical skills, including Foley catheter insertions and central line dressing changes
- Administering medications and managing IV therapies
- Assessing and documenting changes in patient status
- Interpreting EKGs and managing ventilator settings as needed
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans
Additional Information
- Common Diagnoses: Sepsis, CHF, respiratory disorders, and various critical care conditions
- Orientation: Two shifts of floor-specific orientation provided
- EMR System: Cerner
- Required Skills: Competence in performing central line insertions, intubations, and other critical procedures
