Cardiac Surgical Technologist

The Cardiac Operating Room (OR) provides care for a diverse range of patients undergoing procedures such as CABG, TAVI, Heart Failure treatments (including VADs, ECMO, Artificial Heart, and Heart Transplants). Utilizing a multidisciplinary approach, the OR team is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to patients of all ages.

Job Duties

• Prepare instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgical team from the scrub position during operations.
• Ensure proper care and handling of instruments while facilitating room turnover between cases.
• Maintain sterile technique and safe handling of sharps as per hospital policy.
• Perform surgical counts according to established protocols.
• Demonstrate proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse.

Job Requirements

• NBSTSA Certification or equivalent experience as a Surgical Technologist in a healthcare facility for at least one year within the four years prior to January 2015.
• Two years of recent experience in a cardiac OR.
• Able to scrub and circulate during surgical procedures.

Certification(s)

• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
