Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for our Med/Surg unit. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism while providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Med Surg (Medical Surgical)
• # Beds: 24
• Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4
• Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:5

Common Diagnoses

• Congestive heart failure (CHF)
• Hypertension
• Chest pain work-ups
• COPD exacerbations
• Asthma and pneumonia
• Pancreatitis
• Bowel obstructions
• Gastrointestinal bleeding
• Acute renal failure

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including assessments, interventions, and evaluations.
• Titrate intravenous drips for analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives as required.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.
• Document patient care in compliance with facility protocols.

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA)
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a Med/Surg setting
• Must have skills: Ability to assess and manage patients, including NIHSS competency.

Shifts & Scheduling

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekends: Self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Holidays: As required
• Self-scheduling: Available
• Floating Requirements: Possible based on departmental needs

Additional Information

• Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs
• Orientation: Specific dates and location will be assigned during the orientation week.
• RT Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow, and vents are utilized in the unit.
