Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med/Surg.TELE department will provide care for a variety of patients, primarily focusing on post-operative cases. The ideal candidate should have experience with patients who have undergone orthopedic, gynecological, urological, and general surgeries.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, implement, and evaluate patient care based on the direction of the licensed physician.
- Utilize the nursing process to collaborate with patients, their families, and healthcare teams in order to customize care plans.
- Direct nursing support staff in delivering patient care in alignment with nursing standards and administrative policies.
- Float to other units as required based on staffing needs.
Scheduling Requirements
- Every other weekend shifts will be expected.
- Will be required to work one evening during major holidays: Christmas or New Year's, and one holiday such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's, depending on unit needs.
Unit Information
- The unit operates as a 20-bed unit, typically maintaining a patient-to-nurse ratio of 4 or 5 to one.
- For a full census, staffing will include 5 RNs and 2 nursing assistants.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical specialty area is preferred.
- Licenses: Must possess a valid Registered Nurse License for the state of Pennsylvania. A Multi-State Compact RN License is required.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
