Role Specific Responsibilities
- Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust the plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide explanations and instructions regarding respiratory disease processes and intervention procedures to patients and their families, ensuring understanding prior to discharge.
- Be willing to accept reassignment to other units as necessary.
- Share clinical knowledge with staff and students and act as a role model for clinical practice.
- Plan, implement, and assess the effectiveness of respiratory care.
- Administer respiratory care as prescribed by the physician while maintaining communication with medical and nursing staff.
Education
- Associate's degree required.
Licenses and Certification
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Illinois State License
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program - Managed Healthcare (NRP-MHC)
