ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

The ICU Registered Nurse will deliver high-quality care to critically ill patients within a multi-care unit. This role is crucial in managing patient assessments, developing care plans, and ensuring patient safety in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Unit Capacity: 10 beds
• Patient Ratios:
• ICU: 1:2
• PCU: 1:4
• MST: 1:5-6
• Primary Care without Nurse Aide: 1:3
• Common Diagnoses: Sepsis, substance withdrawal, COPD, respiratory arrest, pneumonia, heart rate or blood pressure abnormalities, post-operative complications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required.
• Experience in a larger facility may be accepted, including a year in both ICU and PCU/Med-Surg settings.
• Required Certifications: BLS and ACLS.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
• Monitor patient vitals and respond to changes in condition.
• Administer medications and IV infusions, including titratable drips (e.g., sedation, vasopressors, insulin).
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Perform 12-lead EKGs and bedside cardiac monitoring as necessary.

Schedule and Requirements

• Shift: 12-hour night shifts with the availability to float to other units as necessary.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Requirement: Participation in a fair holiday rotation.
• Floating Requirements: Ability to float to other care units in order to maintain competency in various patient types.

Additional Information

• Clinical staff may be required to take and pass a dysrhythmia exam...
• Remote Monitor technicians are available for patient support.
• Scrubs: Color flexible (excluding camouflage).
