Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled PCU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in managing acute care patients and a passion for teamwork and quality patient care.
Job Details
- Unit Type: Stepdown
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years
- Common Diagnoses: CHF, PNA, Sepsis, Stroke/TIA, COPD, PE, AKI
- Patient Ratios: 1:4-5, with virtual nursing support on shifts
- Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Rotated among staff
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with a focus on stroke management.
- Administer and titrate intravenous medications, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nicardipine, and Dobutamine.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement effective care plans.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and respond to changes in condition promptly.
- Educate patients and their families about health management and disease prevention.
Qualifications
- Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS
- Must demonstrate competence in caring for stroke patients.
- Experience with ventilator management and acute respiratory therapies (BiPap, CPAP).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential.
Work Environment
The PCU unit comprises 24 beds, with nurse aids available to support patient care. A monitor technician is on-site to assist with telemetry monitoring.
Dress Code
Staff are required to wear navy tops and bottoms while on duty.
Orientation
A structured orientation program consisting of three shifts will be provided for all new hires on their assigned shift.
