Job Overview

The registered nurse (RN) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) will assess, implement, and evaluate care for patients under the supervision of licensed physicians. This role requires a strong knowledge of nursing principles and practices, and the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient assessments and care planning.
• Implement and evaluate nursing care based on established protocols and patient needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver individualized patient care.
• Direct nursing support staff in accordance with nursing standards and organizational policies.
• Float to various units as necessary, including all ICUs, step-down units, IMCU, ED, and occasionally Women’s and Family units.
• Maintain patient ratios not exceeding 1:3 while assigned to any unit.
• Participate in orientation programs to become familiarized with various units and patient needs.
• Be available to work surrounding holidays and requests for time off (RTO) as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required).
• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in an ICU setting (no new graduates).
• Current PA Registered Nurse License (required).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required).
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (required).
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (preferred).
