Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Labor and Delivery Nurse to provide exceptional care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in labor and delivery and demonstrate a commitment to high-quality patient care.

Job Details

• Unit: Family Birth Center (Labor and Delivery)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery
• Patient Ratios: 1 to 1 or 1 to 4

Certifications Required

• ACLS
• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• BLS
• COVID Vaccine Required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients during labor and delivery, ensuring adherence to best practices.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to create and implement individualized care plans.
• Assist in delivering infants and managing neonatal care as needed.
• Monitor fetal heart rates and interpret results to ensure patient safety.
• Float to other units as required, primarily assisting in Medical-Surgical areas when necessary.
• Participate in a permanent staff rotation that includes working holidays.

Equipment and Technology

Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR), specifically Cerner, is preferred.

Environment

• Beds: 3 Rooms (with the potential to cross over to Medical-Surgical if full)
• Scrub Color: Ceil Blue (Hospital issued)
• Pharmacy Availability: Not 24/7

Additional Information

This unit experiences approximately 150-175 births per year. The selected candidate may occasionally be the only Labor and Delivery nurse on site and will be expected to care for neonates during C-sections with the assistance of the respiratory therapist and anesthesia team. Patients who are 36 weeks and less are usually transferred to regional facilities for higher-level care.
