Oncology Radiation Therapist - Freeport, Illinois

Department: Oncology Radiation Therapy
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required
• State License for Illinois Radiation Therapist (IL RT) required

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 1 year experience operating a linear accelerator for cancer patients
• Simulation experience highly preferred
• Knowledge or willingness to learn how to set tattoos for radiation therapy
• IV starts are performed by Radiation RN (no IV start requirement for therapist)

Equipment & Technology

• 1 Linear Accelerator (Elekta)
• 1 CT scanner for planning (Phillips)
• EMR systems: Mosaiq (primary), Pinnacle (for planning; familiarity not required)
• Common imaging/studies: IMRT, SBRT, cancer scans including breast, prostate, lung, head and neck

Work Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30/5:00 PM
• Fridays 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• 8-hour shifts, schedule may vary based on unit needs
• No weekend, holiday, call, or standby requirements

Additional Information

• Approximately 15-25 scans/studies per day
• No floating to other departments, but simulations are part of duties and staff participate in CT planning
• Radiologist available in-house during the day
• No use of RRA's (Radiologic Radiology Assistants)
• Scrub color: any color allowed
• Department orientation lasts 5-7 days
