Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Oncology)
Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Facility: Mon Health Medical Center
Hospital System: Mon Health System - Qualivis
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – 5N Oncology
- Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts, weekdays, every other weekend
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (possible extension)
- Start Date: ASAP
- Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
- Experience Required: 1.5-2+ years in nursing
- Travel Experience: Not required
- Blocked Schedule: Possible, to be discussed during interview
Certifications & Skills Required
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Preferred Certification:
- ONS Chemo/Bio Certification (Chemotherapy/Biotherapy)
- Skills:
- IV start experience required
- EMR System: Cerner
- Scrubs: Not provided; burgundy and/or white recommended
Attendance Expectations
- Facility allows only 2-3 call-offs per contract due to previous attendance issues.
Required Documentation & Compliance
Candidates must submit:
- RN License verification (recently pulled)
- Candidate profile including work history
- Specialty-specific skills checklist (updated annually)
- Minimum 2 clinical/manager references within the past year
- Copies of all required certifications
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (updated annually)
- Immunizations and titers preferred or required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within required timeframe)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titers or vaccination preferred)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (titer or vaccination preferred)
- Drug testing: 10-panel within 30 days of start, updated annually
- COVID-19 vaccination no longer required; vaccination records or declination accepted
- Flu vaccine documentation no longer required for 2024-25 season; exemptions must be approved by agency
Background & Compliance Checks
- 7-year criminal background check (updated annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Color blindness testing (online) required for all candidates
- HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement or Core testing required
- ReadySet (RS) health assessment surveys must be completed prior to start
- Facility-specific documents including background drug screen consent, non-disclosure agreements, parking pass, and badge photo required before clearance
Additional Notes
- Care Learning Modules and Cerner Learning Training Modules are mandatory and must be completed prior to orientation.
- Cath Lab RNs must complete additional applications and provide transcripts/diplomas.
- Facility uses Cerner EMR; training modules are tracked by the facility’s educational team.
This position is ideal for RNs with oncology experience who are chemo certified or willing to obtain certification, comfortable with night shifts, and able to meet strict attendance and compliance standards.
