Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Travel Position

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Facility: Ohio States Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital
Hospital System: Outside In
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a hybrid OR suite utilized by Neurosurgeons specialized in endovascular procedures.
  • Cases include diagnostic cerebral angiograms, treatment of strokes, ruptured aneurysms, AVMs, and carotid stenting.
  • Shift options:
    • 5x8s (6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)
    • 4x10s (6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday with on-call requirements for after hours and weekends.
  • Minimum of 125 hours of call per month required.
  • Documentation system: Epic

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - required for ER, ER OB, and ER Psych
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - required for L&D, Post-Partum, and OB
  • Tech Certification Verification (National) - required within 30 days of start
  • HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual)
  • State License Verification (within 30 days of start)
  • NURSYS Verification for RNs, LPN/LVNs, APs
  • NIH Stroke Certification - required for ER and all Critical Care RNs (ICU, MICU, SICU, Neuro ICU, CVICU, Critical Care Float)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam - required for all RNs within 1 year of start and updated annually

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Measles (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Mumps (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series, declination acceptable)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions reviewed)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start, or TB questionnaire
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Background & Screening

  • 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start (includes SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide, sex offender, MVR if driving required)
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start (code 3701.881)
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monthly monitoring required
  • 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)

Additional Requirements

  • Employment application required (nursing candidates must include education)
  • Skills checklist required
  • Education accreditation confirmation for nurses (must be graduates of accredited nursing programs)
  • Transcript/diploma required for Respiratory Therapists (RRTs)
  • Facility-specific documents including dress code, hand hygiene policy, fraud/waste/abuse training, and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed

Notes

  • Travelers can renew certain certifications (ACLS, BLS, PALS) at the facility.
  • Unit-specific competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency exams are required.
  • EKG remediation courses and processes are in place for candidates who do not pass the Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam.
  • Fingerprinting results processing may take 1-2 weeks; delays possible if background hits occur.
  • Candidates with contract breaks over 90 days may require new fingerprinting.
