Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Facility: MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center
Hospital System: Medical University of South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Cath Lab Tech
- Shift: Primarily 4x10 hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), but may vary depending on procedure completion
- Daily Caseload: 4 to 5 labs per day, with 2 CVTs per lab; approximately 20 cases daily
- On-Call Requirements:
- One weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) per month
- One call shift and one evening shift every week
- Call requirements may change based on staffing needs
- Floating: No floating between service lines or sister facilities
- Holidays: As needed
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years Cath Lab experience
- First-Timers: Accepted
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- ARRT or RCIS (registered or in process)
- Must have South Carolina license (SCRQSA)
- Radiation Badge: Required and must be provided by the agency (MUSC does not provide badges)
- Skills: Proficient in coronary diagnostic/intervention scrub and monitor

Scheduling & Work Conditions
- Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval and unit needs
- Local radius rule: 60 miles
- Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
- Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks; called off hours can be combined to equal 1 shift
Important Notes
- Hurricane Season: June through November; employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time. Consider this before accepting new or extension assignments.
- Orientation & Training:
- Completion of OurDay modules and first day instructions required before start
- Modules take approximately 2-6 hours depending on location
- COVID and flu vaccination documentation must be uploaded into OurDay system
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style, frontal photo with solid light background required
- Physical Exam: Must be current (within 90 days) and attest to ability to work without restrictions
- Fit Mask: Fit testing required onsite; proof of recent fit test with specific mask type may waive onsite test
- Background Checks: Annual background check within 90 days of start, including multiple screenings
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start required
- Immunizations & Health Requirements:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers or vaccinations as required
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Flu vaccine required during flu season or approved exemption
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Licensure:
- South Carolina RN or relevant tech license required
- RCIS Cath Lab Techs must register with SC Board of Medical Examiners
- Licensure verification and approval required before start
- References: Minimum two clinical references, including at least one from the unit of assignment
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
Certifications & Compliance
- Must provide copies of all relevant certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke, IV Therapy, etc.) as applicable
- HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
- Facility-specific forms and agreements must be completed prior to start (confidentiality, contractor forms, ID badge request, job description)
- Respirator medical clearance required annually
