Description
CVOR RN Travel Assignment
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Facility: Methodist Hospital of Nebraska Methodist Health System
Assignment Details
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Suites:
- 2 dedicated heart rooms
- 1 Hybrid suite
- 1-2 open surgical rooms for various cases
- Cases per Day: 8 to 14 (varied vascular, thoracic, and heart cases)
Required Certifications & Experience
- Certifications:
- BLS (required)
- ACLS (preferred)
- Experience:
- 1-2 years preferred
- Must have open heart and endovascular experience
- Well-rounded in cardio and vascular cases
- Vascular hybrid experience preferred
- Previous travel experience preferred but not required if experience is strong
Common Cases
- Open heart surgeries
- CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting)
- Valve replacements
- Thoracic cases
- Vascular surgeries (open and endovascular)
- AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm)
- IVC (Inferior Vena Cava) filters
Role Expectations
- Scrubbing required for RNs
- Circulating is required; scrubbing is a bonus
- Typically 1 circulator in vascular cases and 2 in open cases
- Must be flexible, able to work as a team player, and willing to pick up call as needed
Staffing & Support
- 2 leads available (charge nurse and CV coordinator)
- Service leader available
- OR techs present
- EMR system: Cerner - Surginet
Scheduling & Shifts
- 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (6:45 AM - 5:15 PM or until case completion)
- Occasionally may stay late
- Variable days off, no self-scheduling
- Call requirements:
- Typically 1-2 weeknights per week (5 PM - 7 AM) with 2 scrub techs and 1 nurse on call
- 1-2 weekends per month on call
- Flexible holiday coverage required
- Mandatory call/standby for permanent staff first; travelers may request call
- Call response time: 30 minutes, OR ready and dressed
Orientation & Additional Info
- Unit-specific orientation up to 1 week with preceptor
- Floating within main OR or within skillset may be required
- Scrub color and dress code provided by facility
