Job Description
- Work in a new and specialized Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU).
- Care for cardiac patients both pre- and post-operation.
- Flexible scheduling to accommodate surgical cases.
- Expected to work 36 hours per week, every other weekend, holidays, and be willing to be on call.
- May be floated to PICU, Pediatrics, and NICU as needed.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- PALS (American Heart Association)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics
- NRP Advanced (AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
- Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Driver’s License/State ID (must be valid and meet address requirements).
Required Exams & Testing
- Ascension Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Color Vision Test (updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics; minimum 80%, updated yearly)
- Ascension Safe Sleep Training
- Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80%, updated as of Dec 2023)
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually)
- 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
- Fit Test (annual respiratory protection fit test)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history; no declinations accepted.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- Influenza Vaccine: Recommended; exemptions accepted with mask requirement during flu season.
- TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire.
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to assignment and updated annually.
Onboarding & Professional Requirements
- Completion of Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding.
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation.
- Ascension Badge Photo (professional headshot with white or blue background).
- Ascension Profile (resume or professional profile).
- Two professional references.
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry.
- Employment Verification (past 7 years).
- Education Verification (within 90 days of start).
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation.
- Ascension EPLS (Exclusionary Provider List System) check.
Additional Information
- Must be willing to float between CVICU, PICU, Pediatrics, and NICU.
- Flexibility in scheduling is essential.
- All certifications, licenses, and exams must be current and meet Ascension Health standards.
- Compliance with all health, safety, and professional requirements is mandatory for onboarding and continued assignment.
