Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ICU/CCU) - Travel/Contract
Location: Jacksonville, Illinois
Facility: Jacksonville Memorial Hospital (Hereford Regional Medical Center)
Position Details
- Specialty: ICU/CCU Registered Nurse
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:2 ratio, 4-bed ICU
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years ICU/CCU experience
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: May float within scope as needed
- Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
- Local Candidates: Accepted (no radius restrictions)
- License: Active Illinois RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable
- NIH certification required
Clinical Skills & Experience Requirements
Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Multi-system organ failure management
- Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKGs
- IV insulin protocols experience
- Chronic and acute renal failure experience
IV Therapy:
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line and PICC line care/management
- Starting IVs
Medication Management:
- Continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade
- Continuous IV sedation
- Emergency medications
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
Respiratory/Thoracic Care:
- Assist with BiPAP and CPAP management
- Assist with chest tube insertion/removal
- Care of ventilated patients
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management
- Interpretation of ABGs
- Suctioning (ETT, NT)
- Ventilator management
Professional Skills:
- Infection prevention and isolation precautions (PPE use)
- Care of surgical wounds with drains and wound vacs
Charting System: Cerner (experience preferred)

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid US Driver’s License or State ID
- Primary source verification of certifications and licenses (ACLS, BLS, PALS, State License, NURSYS)
- HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Competency exam for clinical candidates
- Badge photo (color, plain background)
- Signed Code of Conduct
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually Oct-Apr)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must indicate good health and ability to perform job functions)
- Fit mask test (3M masks accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Background check covering last 7 years, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days of start
- Professional references (2 required for clinical candidates)
- Education verification (degree or transcript)
- Illinois-specific registry and state searches as required
- Fingerprinting and Illinois Health Care Worker Registry for those without active IL license providing direct care
