Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Oncology/MS RN)
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Facility: Springfield Memorial Hospital, Hereford Regional Medical Center
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Oncology / Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Registered Nurse
- Shift: Nights, either 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
- Average Daily Census: 24 patients (24 rooms/beds)
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year oncology experience preferred; first-timers accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Certifications Preferred:
- Chemotherapy certification preferred (not required)
- OCN and ONS/ONCC certifications preferred
- On-Call: Not required
- Floating: May float within scope as needed
- Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- Licensure: Must have active Illinois RN license or be in the application process

IV Therapy/Infusion Skills/Experience
- Accessing ports
- Administration of coagulation factors, antifungals, antivirals
- Blood and blood product administration
- Care and management of ports and central lines
- Central line blood draws

- Starting IVs

- Licenses & Certifications:
- Active Illinois RN license or in application process
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required based on unit/specialty (AHA or RQI acceptable)
- National tech certification verification
- NURSYS verification required
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must indicate good physical and mental health)
- Fit mask test (specific mask types required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
- Background Checks & Screening:
- Background check covering last 7 years of residence/employment
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- References: 2 professional references required for clinical candidates
- Illinois-specific registry and criminal searches as required

- Photo for badge within 1 week of signing contract

Additional Notes
- Guaranteed hours may be adjusted with client call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay for cancelled hours.
- Candidates must be prepared to float as needed within their scope of practice.
- Facility accommodates latex allergies.
- Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start for candidates without an IL license.
