Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Facility: Ohio State University Hospital
Hospital System: Outside In


Patient Population

  • Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required

Staffing Ratios

  • 1:4

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Key Skills & Clinical Competencies

  • Telemetry & Dysrhythmia Management
  • PCU/Stepdown Care
  • IV Insulin & Heparin Protocols
  • Renal Failure Management
  • Cardiac & Vasoactive Drips (including titration)
  • Blood Product Administration
  • Tracheostomy Management
  • Rapid Response Team Utilization
  • Wound Care/Wound Vac
  • Non-Invasive Airway Management (CPAP/BIPAP, Oxygen)
  • EPIC Documentation

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Licensure & Verification

  • State nursing license verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required for RNs
  • Residency Declaration Form required if using a compact license from outside Ohio

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
  • Unit-Specific Competency Exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must be current within 1 year and updated annually)

Background & Screening

  • 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
  • Pending background check attestation allowed if fingerprint results are pending
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monthly monitoring required

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, or TB questionnaire
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination accepted)
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemption requires documentation
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required but strongly recommended

Facility-Specific Policies

  • Dress Code and Hand Hygiene Policy acknowledgment required
  • Confidential Fraud, Waste, Abuse, and Compliance Reporting training and form required
  • Ethics and Compliance Policies must be reviewed and signed annually

Additional Documentation

  • Employment application including education verification
  • Skills checklist
  • Education accreditation confirmation for nursing programs (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, CASN)
  • Professional references: 2 required, at least 1 from a manager or formal leadership
