Physical Therapist (PT) - Outpatient Therapy

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Outpatient Physical Therapy
  • Shift: Weekdays, 36 hours per week
    • Option 1: 5 days x 8 hours
    • Option 2: 3 days x 9 hours, 1 day x 5 hours, 1 day x 8 hours
  • Weekend Hours: None
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Number of Openings: 1

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current PT License eligible or licensed in Missouri
  • CPR/BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association only)

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year PT experience with orthopedic background required
  • New graduates may be considered if they have completed 1 travel rotation

Unit & Patient Information

  • Patient Type: Geriatric Orthopedics, Post-Operative and Non-Operative
  • Patient Load: Approximately 52 scheduled patients per week, 45-minute one-on-one sessions
  • Equipment: Traction, Basic Rehab Equipment
  • EMR System: EPIC

Required Skills & Responsibilities

  • Manual Therapy experience required
  • Perform evaluations including history, motor/sensory function, functional mobility, gait, endurance, and plan of care
  • Provide treatments such as therapeutic modalities (ultrasound, hot packs, electrical stimulation, whirlpool), manual therapy, neuromuscular reeducation, gait training, wound care, orthotic/prosthetic management
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members
  • Provide discharge planning and patient/family education
  • Complete timely and thorough documentation in compliance with regulatory guidelines
  • Meet departmental productivity and quality standards
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional development and provide supervision for students during clinical rotations
  • Participate in process improvement and outcomes monitoring

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Patient care may involve heavy lifting, bending, standing
  • Physical requirements include pushing (up to 40 lbs), pulling (up to 60 lbs), gripping (up to 50 lbs), pinching (up to 15 lbs), kneeling, crouching, and crawling minimally
  • Must be competent in using therapy equipment and office technology

Dress Code

  • Black pants and collared shirt required
  • No shorts or open-toed shoes allowed

Additional Notes

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for travel period November 1 - April 1 (declinations not accepted)
  • Must be flexible and able to work well within a team environment
