Radiologic Technologist - Cardiac Cath Lab / Interventional Radiology

Job Description

• Administer contrast material via existing IV line or by performing venipuncture and placing IV line, following physician's orders.
• Recognize and respond to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.
• Anticipate set-up and needs for invasive procedures.
• Assist with inventory and supplies management.
• Verify correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position.
• Compile pertinent clinical information (lab, pathology, etc.).
• Administer medication within scope of practice.
• Document procedures accurately and completely.
• Explain procedures to patients and provide care including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.
• Perform all essential functions of an Invasive Lab Radiologic Technologist.
• Perform on-call duties and/or variable shifts as assigned.
• Float to all procedural areas as needed.
• Maintain a clean and neat work area.
• Demonstrate competence in operating imaging, physiological monitoring, and related equipment; perform basic troubleshooting.
• Maintain sterile field during procedures.
• Administer and withhold contrast and treatment as appropriate.
• Assess patients for allergies.
• Function as scrub and monitor technician on a rotating basis during procedures.
• Assist physicians during interventional procedures.
• Eligible to take call after 6 months of orientation.

Contract Length

• Approximately 20 weeks

Required Skills & Experience

• Cardiac Cath Lab experience
• Interventional Radiology experience

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Neuro Interventional experience
• Electrophysiology (EP) experience

Education Requirements

• Associate's Degree in a related field OR
• Certificate in Radiologic Technology

Required Certifications & Licensure

• BLS (American Heart Association)
• ACLS (American Heart Association)
• IEMA Radiography License (Illinois)
• Radiography (R) (ARRT)

Additional Information

• Must be able to work variable shifts and float to different procedural areas.
• On-call duties required after orientation period.
